Painted Pages: Alisa Burke & Basquiat

I started an online course called Studying Under the Masters III on Jeanne Oliver's Creative Network last May. I took a pause from this class (which is the beauty of taking online courses as many are self-paced with lifetime access) for a month or so, and recently got into it again. I went straight to Alisa Burke's lesson on Basquiat (take a sneak peek at her lesson here).

And here is my first attempt:

Painted page after. Still needs more...
I love this messy and expressive way of painting. I was so inspired, I created my own version of another of his paintings which I will share soon.

The Old Stone House, Pizza and Gelato

This has been a full on, productive, work filled week! In the midst of loads of planning, moving classroom furniture, quick visits with cousin, sister, friends... I missed a very important milestone. On September 1st,  a.l.o.e. i love had it's one year anniversary!!!

I made the commitment to try out this blogging thing for a year, and let me tell you there were times when I didn't want to put in the time (and boy does this take time, especially when you don't really know what you're doing), but I am still here and apparently I have more to say and more to share :)

So I leave you with a perfect afternoon in Brooklyn and a few of my favorite spots.

a.l.o.e. in the classroom

A.l.o.e. in the classroom has arrived! It's a blog dedicated to my teaching and learning adventures. You can visit a.l.o.e. in the classroom here

How will I manage teaching and posting regularly on two blogs you ask??? I have no idea. Hahaha. My thoughts are, a lot of planning (as usual), less tv (except for Downton Abbey and other Masterpiece classics... and maybe a Housewife of some city every once in a while), definitely little or no travel for a while... We will see. Where there's a will there's a way, One day at a time, Reach for the stars, ... and all that other good stuff :)

I leave you with the last days of summer in Brooklyn. x

August Catch Up: Copenhagen

August has gone by like a flash! This month started with travel, a wedding, family & friends... The second half has involved much organizing, decluttering and planning for my return to work. If my home is in order, then my mind, body and heart will be ready to embrace the busy season to come.

COPENHAGEN
We stayed at an airbnb with the whole familia. This is a sunrise view from our bedroom window and a lovely rooftop across from us.
